Woman rescued after going overboard from Odyssey of the Seas near Greece
The Hellenic Coast Guard said the passenger was found conscious after clinging to a lifebuoy for about 20 hours.

A 44-year-old woman from El Salvador was rescued after falling overboard from Royal Caribbean’s Odyssey of the Seas about 83 miles southwest of Zakynthos, Greece, according to the Hellenic Coast Guard.
The incident occurred on Friday, Oct. 9, during a week-long cruise that had departed Civitavecchia, Italy, on Oct. 4. The Coast Guard said the woman spent about 20 hours in the water while holding onto a lifebuoy.
Authorities launched a search involving boats, passing vessels and a Greek Air Force helicopter. Early on Saturday, Oct. 10, a cargo ship noticed a flashing light attached to a life ring and located the woman conscious.
Coast Guard video showed rescuers approaching her in darkness and throwing a rope. A rescue boat then recovered the woman and provided first aid. She was later transported by ambulance from the port of Katakolo to a hospital for examination.
Royal Caribbean said it began a search immediately and was assisting the guest’s family. Greek authorities had not disclosed how the woman entered the water. The Katakolo Port Authority was investigating the incident.
