Vision of the Seas delayed in Baltimore, itinerary shifted to Bahamas

Royal Caribbean cited adverse weather and strong winds for the roughly six-hour arrival delay.

Vision of the Seas was expected to reach Baltimore at about 2 p.m. Thursday, roughly six hours later than its usual early-morning docking. Royal Caribbean attributed the delay to unfavorable weather and high winds as the ship navigated around the storm’s path. The vessel encountered gusts estimated at 30 to 40 mph.

The disruption also affected the ship’s next departure, originally scheduled as a nine-night Canada and New England cruise leaving Wednesday. Royal Caribbean replaced that voyage with a Bahamas itinerary featuring calls at Orlando, Nassau and Freeport.

Boarding for the revised sailing was set to start at 4:30 p.m. Passengers were instructed to arrive no later than 6:30 p.m., with all guests expected to be aboard by 7 p.m.

Royal Caribbean said it would provide logistical and financial assistance to travelers who needed to revise flights because of the schedule changes. Reimbursement offers were listed at up to $200 per guest for domestic flight changes and up to $400 per guest for international changes.
