VISIO starts cruise-to-nowhere sailings from Tianjin

The inaugural voyage carried more than 2,700 passengers and was due to return to Tianjin without making an intermediate port call.

VISIO departed from Tianjin International Cruise Home Port on a three-day, two-night cruise-to-nowhere voyage. The sailing made Tianjin the first city in northern China and the second in the country to introduce the format.

The 105,000-ton vessel left the Port of Tianjin on Saturday and was scheduled to return on Monday. Its itinerary takes place entirely at sea, with Tianjin serving as both the embarkation and disembarkation port and no calls at other ports.

More than 2,700 passengers boarded VISIO for the inaugural voyage, according to the Tianjin Dongjiang border inspection station. Another cruise-to-nowhere sailing was scheduled to leave Tianjin on Monday.

Shanghai had previously issued the country’s first entry-exit permit for this type of cruise operation. Adora Magic City subsequently departed from Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal carrying more than 4,100 passengers.
