Virgin Voyages reroutes Brilliant Lady from Mexican Riviera
The October 17 cruise retained its planned duration but shifted to ports in California and Ensenada as Hurricane Trudy threatened Mexico’s Pacific coast.

Virgin Voyages replaced all three Mexican Riviera calls on Brilliant Lady’s October 17 sailing with a California coast itinerary because of the threat posed by Hurricane Trudy. The cruise line confirmed the changes on October 16, one day before embarkation.
Guests who had expected to visit Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta were instead scheduled to call at San Francisco, San Diego and Ensenada. Under the revised plan, Brilliant Lady was to leave Los Angeles on October 17, reach San Francisco on October 19, visit San Diego on October 21 and call at Ensenada on October 22.
The ship remained scheduled to return to Los Angeles on October 24, preserving the original cruise length. Virgin Voyages said the voyage itself had not been cancelled and that the planned departure from Los Angeles would proceed.
The company also informed affected passengers that excursions purchased through Virgin Voyages for the cancelled Mexican ports would be refunded to their onboard accounts. The disruption was described as the fourth consecutive Brilliant Lady sailing affected by tropical weather during the ship’s autumn season from Los Angeles.
