Virgin Voyages reroutes Brilliant Lady as Hurricane Trudy approaches
The seven-night sailing will replace three Mexican Riviera calls with stops in San Francisco, San Diego and Ensenada.

Virgin Voyages confirmed in an October 16 notice that Brilliant Lady’s itinerary had been revised because of Hurricane Trudy’s projected path. The cruise line canceled three scheduled ports and substituted a new route while keeping the ship’s October 24 return to Los Angeles unchanged.
The seven-night voyage was initially due to call at Cabo San Lucas on October 19, Mazatlan on October 20 and Puerto Vallarta on October 21. Under the revised schedule, Brilliant Lady will instead visit San Francisco on October 19, San Diego on October 21 and Ensenada on October 22.
Citing guidance from the National Hurricane Center, Virgin Voyages said sailing south could place the ship on the stronger and more dangerous side of the storm, creating a safety risk the company considered unacceptable.
Guests who purchased Virgin Voyages shore excursions for the canceled destinations will automatically receive credit to their onboard folios. The October 17 cruise was reported as the fourth consecutive Brilliant Lady sailing affected by tropical weather.
