Viking Takes Delivery of Viking Sekhmet at Cairo Shipyard
The purpose-built Nile River vessel will accommodate 82 guests and begin sailing two Viking itineraries in 2027.

Viking has taken delivery of the Viking Sekhmet during a handover ceremony at the Massara shipyard in Cairo, Egypt. The vessel is the company’s newest cruise ship built for Nile River navigation.
The Viking Sekhmet accommodates 82 guests in 41 outside staterooms. Viking describes the vessel as a sister ship to the Viking Ptah and six other vessels designed specifically to navigate the Nile River.
Beginning in 2027, the Viking Sekhmet will sail the company’s 12-day Pharaohs and Pyramids itinerary. The vessel will also operate Viking’s new Total Eclipse on the Nile itinerary from that year.
The planned deployment places the 82-guest, 41-stateroom ship on both the 12-day Pharaohs and Pyramids program and the new Total Eclipse on the Nile itinerary in 2027.
