Viking Sekhmet delivery ceremony held in Cairo
The new 82-guest river ship is set to operate Viking’s Pharaohs & Pyramids and Total Eclipse on the Nile itineraries.

A delivery ceremony for Viking Sekhmet was held at the Massara shipyard in Cairo, Egypt. Viking now has ten river cruise ships focused on the Nile.
The 236-foot vessel can accommodate 82 guests in 41 cabins. Its features include a square bow and an Aquavit Terrace with indoor and outdoor spaces.
Viking Sekhmet will sail the 12-day Pharaohs & Pyramids itinerary and the new 12-day Total Eclipse on the Nile itinerary in 2027. Both itineraries begin with a three-night hotel stay in Cairo. Guests can visit sites including the Great Pyramids of Giza, the Sakkara necropolis, the Mosque of Muhammad Ali and the Grand Egyptian Museum.
Passengers then fly to Luxor and visit the Temples of Luxor and Karnak before boarding a Viking river ship for an eight-day roundtrip Nile cruise.
Viking says prices start at £5,495 per person, including flights, transfers, onboard meals, tips, Wi-Fi and an excursion in almost every port.
