Viking Octantis closes Thunder Bay cruise season
The ship’s one-day visit brought 378 guests to Pool 6 as the city looked ahead to 11 scheduled calls next year.
Viking Octantis arrived at Thunder Bay’s Pool 6 early in the day with 378 guests, concluding the city’s cruise season with a single-day port call.
Planned excursions included Fort William Historical Park and Kakabeka Falls. Other passengers had opportunities to explore the waterfront district or take a shuttle to shop in the Intercity area.
Thunder Bay recorded 10 visits by three Victory Cruise Lines vessels during the summer, compared with 13 visits in 2025. Tourism manager Paul Pepe said 11 calls from the same cruise company are scheduled for next year.
The city’s tourism department had not completed its calculation of the season’s economic impact. Pepe said the department expected the total to fall between $1.2 million and $1.4 million.
