Vancouver cruise traffic rises as Canada Place plans shore power expansion
About 1.4 million passengers and 358 cruise ships visited the port between February and October.

Canada Place at the Port of Vancouver recorded nearly 20 per cent growth in both cruise passenger traffic and ship calls. Approximately 1.4 million passengers passed through the port between February and October, an 18 per cent increase over 2025, while the 358 cruise ship arrivals represented a 19 per cent rise.
A passenger survey found that 76 per cent of cruise guests spent time in Vancouver before or after sailing. That share was six per cent higher than in the 2023 survey. Cruise passengers spent an average of $1,144 in the city on accommodations, dining, shopping, tours and local attractions.
The Port of Vancouver estimates that every cruise ship call at Canada Place contributes an average of $3 million to the local economy.
Before the next cruise season, Canada Place is also scheduled to increase its shore power capacity. The expansion will allow more vessels to connect to British Columbia’s low-carbon electricity grid while alongside. It is expected to avoid 3,300 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions during each cruise season.
