Utopia of the Seas Diverts Twice to Fort Lauderdale
Emergency vehicles responded during both September 24 calls, and a passenger was evacuated during one of the stops, according to the report.

Royal Caribbean’s Utopia of the Seas diverted to Fort Lauderdale twice on September 24 during sea days, the report said. Emergency vehicles responded on both occasions, and a passenger was evacuated during the daytime diversion.
A passenger aboard the ship reported hearing four or five alpha-code calls during the sailing. The cruiser also said the vessel was in Fort Lauderdale because someone needed hospitalization and identified that person as the passenger evacuated during the stop.
The ship was sailing a four-night round-trip itinerary from Port Canaveral, with calls at Nassau and Coco Cay. It was due to return to Port Canaveral the day after the diversions, according to the passenger’s account.
At the time of publication, Royal Caribbean had not released a statement addressing the multiple diversions to Fort Lauderdale.
