U.S. Virgin Islands ranks second in Caribbean cruise arrival growth
Caribbean Tourism Organization figures showed a 40.2% increase, placing the territory behind Puerto Rico in the latest presentation.

Cruise arrivals to the U.S. Virgin Islands increased 40.2%, according to figures presented by the Caribbean Tourism Organization. That growth rate ranked the territory second in the region, behind Puerto Rico.
The latest ranking follows an earlier reporting period in which the U.S. Virgin Islands led the region for cruise growth. Caribbean Tourism Organization data for that period showed the territory received 831,690 cruise passengers during the first quarter, representing a 68% increase from the same period a year earlier.
Although the growth rates and positions differed between the two reporting periods, both sets of figures indicated substantial year-over-year gains in cruise passenger traffic. The latest presentation placed the U.S. Virgin Islands one position lower regionally while still recording growth of more than 40%.
