Two passengers evacuated from Oasis of the Seas in Nassau
The medical emergencies delayed the Royal Caribbean ship and caused the cancellation of a scheduled Florida port call.

Two passengers, including a seven-year-old child, were evacuated from Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas in the Bahamas on a Friday in September for emergency medical treatment.
The ship had been sailing toward New Jersey when it changed course and returned toward Nassau because a passenger required hospital treatment. According to an announcement by the ship’s captain, Nassau was the nearest place where the passenger could receive the necessary medical care.
While Oasis of the Seas was returning to Nassau, a second passenger was reported to be critically ill. Both passengers were later taken ashore there for further treatment.
Royal Caribbean did not disclose the passengers’ medical conditions or the nature of either emergency. It also had not been established whether the incidents were related.
The evacuations delayed the ship’s subsequent departure and resulted in the cancellation of a scheduled port call in Florida. Oasis of the Seas was expected to reach Cape Liberty in Bayonne, New Jersey, at approximately two o’clock on Sunday afternoon, about eight hours after its originally scheduled arrival at six o’clock that morning.
