Two Ohio residents arrested after alleged cruise ship cabin altercation

Authorities say the dispute escalated after nearby passengers asked the couple to lower their voices.

Ohio residents Gannon Jacox, 29, and Brooklyn Hicks, 28, were arrested following an altercation aboard an unidentified cruise ship, according to the report. Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said the couple had consumed alcohol before the dispute.

The confrontation reportedly began when nearby passengers asked Jacox and Hicks to lower their voices. Hicks then confronted the passengers while Jacox recorded the encounter on his phone, the report said. Eyewitness accounts cited in the report alleged that Jacox encouraged Hicks to attack the passengers before the couple forced their way into the passengers’ cabin.

Jacox allegedly struck three people inside the cabin, including a 9-year-old child. Hicks was accused of assaulting one of the victims. The report said none of the occupants suffered serious injuries.

Jacox faces three felony counts of burglary with assault or battery, one felony child-abuse count and one misdemeanor battery count, according to the report. Hicks faces one felony count of burglary with assault or battery and one misdemeanor battery count. Authorities did not disclose the cruise line or ship involved.
