Two arrested at Port Canaveral after alleged cruise ship altercation

Authorities filed burglary, battery and child abuse charges following an incident aboard an unidentified vessel.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office said Gannon Jacox, 29, and Brooklyn Hicks, 28, were arrested Saturday night at Port Canaveral, Florida, after an alleged altercation aboard an unnamed cruise ship.

Sheriff Wayne Ivey alleged that the couple entered a family’s cabin and that Jacox attacked two adults and a child. Ivey said none of the family members suffered serious injuries. Jacox was charged with burglary with battery and child abuse without great bodily harm. Hicks was charged with burglary with battery and battery-touch/strike.

Both were booked into the Brevard County Jail, according to the report. Jacox’s bond was set at US$31,000, while Hicks’ bond was set at US$6,000. The vessel involved was not identified. A Port Canaveral schedule listed four ships at the port that Saturday: Royal Caribbean’s Adventure of the Seas, Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Treasure, and Carnival Cruise Line’s Mardi Gras and Carnival Freedom. The schedule does not establish which ship was connected to the alleged incident.
