Two arrested after alleged cruise ship cabin confrontation

Brevard County authorities said the incident involved an altercation with a family and left no one seriously injured.

Brevard County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Gannon Jacox and Brooklyn Hicks at Port Canaveral on Saturday following an alleged confrontation aboard a cruise ship. Both were booked into the Brevard County Jail.

Sheriff Wayne Ivey said Jacox and Hicks had been drinking and arguing loudly when another passenger asked them to lower their voices. According to Ivey, Jacox then encouraged Hicks to attack the passengers before the pair allegedly forced their way into the passengers’ cabin.

Ivey said a fight followed, during which Jacox allegedly struck three people, including a 9-year-old child. Hicks was accused of swinging at members of the family. The sheriff said none of the victims suffered serious injuries.

According to the sheriff, Jacox was arrested on multiple counts, including burglary with battery and child abuse without great bodily harm. Hicks was charged with burglary with battery and battery by touch or strike. Jacox’s bond was set at $31,000.
