Two arrested after alleged cruise ship cabin altercation
A man and woman face burglary and battery-related charges following the ship’s return to Port Canaveral, Florida.
Gannon Jacox, 29, and Brooklyn Hicks, 28, were arrested after their cruise ship returned to Port Canaveral, according to Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey. Authorities had not identified the vessel involved.
Ivey alleged that Jacox and Hicks had been drinking and arguing loudly before one of the victims asked them to lower their voices. According to the sheriff, Hicks then confronted the victim while Jacox recorded the encounter on his phone and encouraged Hicks to attack.
The sheriff said the pair pushed into the family’s cabin, where a 9-year-old child was present. Ivey alleged that Jacox struck all three victims, including the child, and that Hicks also threw punches. None of the victims suffered serious injuries, according to Ivey.
Jacox was charged with burglary with battery and child abuse without great bodily harm, the sheriff said. Hicks was charged with burglary with battery and battery-touch/strike.
