Survey estimates cruise visitors spent $1.7 million in Rockland area
City-commissioned research also found that passengers gave the community exceptionally strong ratings across several aspects of their visits.

Cruise ship passengers who visited Rockland during the previous year spent an estimated $1.7 million in the Rockland area, according to a survey commissioned by the city.
Digital Research, Inc., which conducted the research, reported that passengers rated the community exceptionally highly for its welcome, service and natural beauty. Visitors also gave similarly strong marks to their overall experience in Rockland.
The spending amount represents the survey’s estimate of cruise passenger expenditures rather than a stated total of recorded transactions. The research presented the economic estimate alongside passenger assessments of Rockland as a destination, with the survey findings attributing the favorable evaluations to the passengers who took part.
