Stornoway terminal handles four cruise ships in four days
More than 10,000 passengers and approximately 4,000 crew members visited the Outer Hebrides during the port’s busiest week of the cruise season.
The Port of Stornoway’s Deep Water Terminal received four cruise ships on consecutive days, demonstrating the berthing capacity created by the port’s $80 million investment. The terminal was developed to accommodate larger vessels.
The sequence began with Phoenix Reisen’s Artania, followed by Balmoral on the sixth of Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ nine scheduled Stornoway visits this season. Cunard’s Queen Anne then made its second call of the year, before Princess Cruises’ Majestic Princess completed its inaugural visit.
Majestic Princess brought approximately 3,700 passengers to the islands. The vessel measures 330 meters and, according to Port of Stornoway Chief Executive Alex Macleod, exceeds 144,000 gross tons, making it one of the largest ships the port has received. Across the four calls, the terminal welcomed more than 10,000 passengers and about 4,000 crew members to the Outer Hebrides.
