Star Princess passenger accepts cabin downgrade after fare dispute
Deborah Keck said Princess Cruises added $3,967 to a previously confirmed suite booking, leaving her to return to her original mini-suite.

Passenger Deborah Keck said she reserved a Star Princess sailing about 18 months before departure, then contacted Princess Cruises several months later to upgrade from a mini-suite to a suite. According to Keck, a company representative priced the upgrade at $1,449, which she paid that day.
Keck said the resulting confirmation identified her suite cabin, showed a zero balance and marked the reservation as paid in full. She later alleged that Princess added another $3,967 to the booking without her authorization.
When she challenged the added charge, Keck said the cruise line presented three options: pay the additional amount, return to her original mini-suite and receive a refund of the upgrade fee, or have the cruise canceled.
An account of the dispute said Princess did not offer a resolution or explain the added charge despite multiple inquiries, and provided no comment. Keck ultimately accepted the downgrade to her original cabin and paid no additional amount for the cruise.
