Star Princess makes first call at Vancouver’s Canada Place

The 177,882-gross-ton Princess Cruises ship became the largest cruise vessel to visit Vancouver during its September 2026 call.

Princess Cruises’ Star Princess made its inaugural visit to Vancouver’s Canada Place cruise terminal on September 27, 2026. The ship arrived at 1:45 a.m. and departed at 1 a.m. the following day, with both movements timed for low tide so it could safely clear the Lions Gate Bridge.

At 177,882 gross tons, Star Princess exceeded the tonnage of previous Vancouver record-holders Norwegian Encore, at 169,116 gross tons, and Norwegian Bliss, at 168,028 gross tons. The vessel is 1,133 feet long and 155 feet wide, has 20 decks, and can carry 4,300 passengers and more than 1,500 crew members.

After departing Vancouver, Star Princess called at Victoria before continuing toward San Francisco, Los Angeles, Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and the Panama Canal.

The port authority projected more than 1.4 million cruise passengers and nearly 360 ship visits at Canada Place in 2026. Passenger volume totaled 1.32 million in 2023 and 1.2 million in 2025. Vancouver’s 2026 cruise season was scheduled to conclude October 13 with Norwegian Encore’s departure.
