Sprinklers activate unexpectedly aboard Anthem of the Seas
The incident affected the Royal Esplanade during a seven-night sailing from Seattle, while the ship’s itinerary reportedly continued as scheduled.

Sprinklers activated unexpectedly aboard Anthem of the Seas on Sept. 10, 2026, during a seven-night sailing from Seattle, Washington, according to a passenger account shared on Reddit. A 14-second video showed travelers gathered on the upper level of the Royal Esplanade as water sprayed across the area below.
Another Reddit user said the casino closed for the night but described that as the incident’s only major effect, adding that most passengers were unaware it had occurred. The ship visited Juneau as scheduled on Sept. 11, indicating that the sailing’s itinerary was not disrupted.
Similar incidents have previously been reported on other ships. In November 2024, a fog machine reportedly triggered sprinklers in the Royal Promenade aboard Symphony of the Seas, prompting guests to move toward the shore excursion tablets near the Bionic Bar. A more recent leak aboard Quantum of the Seas reportedly flooded a stairwell near the Royal Esplanade. Another Reddit user recalled a comparable event aboard Wonder, saying the affected area was cleaned quickly.
