Spectrum of the Seas sailing delayed and shortened after Shanghai port closure
Royal Caribbean rescheduled the August 28, 2026 departure to August 29 and revised it to a three-night cruise.
Royal Caribbean informed guests that Typhoon Saudel and a government-ordered closure of the Port of Shanghai’s Baoshan facility had extended the preceding Spectrum of the Seas voyage. The company said the disruption delayed the ship’s scheduled August 28, 2026 sailing until August 29.
The revised voyage was reduced to three nights, with Okinawa, Japan, removed from the itinerary. Spectrum of the Seas is instead scheduled to visit Jeju Island at Seogwipo, South Korea, followed by a day at sea before returning to Shanghai.
Royal Caribbean offered affected passengers refundable onboard credit based on accommodation and occupancy. Inside and ocean-view guests were allocated $100, balcony guests $150, and passengers in Sea, Star and Sky suites $250. Third and fourth guests were offered $50 each. Guests could alternatively cancel their booking for a full refund.
