Spanish ports receive more than 13.1 million cruise passengers through November

Compiled figures show passenger traffic increased nearly 9.9 percent from January through November 2025 compared with the same period of 2024.

Spanish ports received more than 13.1 million cruise passengers from January through November 2025, according to figures compiled from Puertos del Estado and Spanish business media. The total was nearly 9.9 percent higher than in the corresponding period of 2024.

The figures follow Spain’s cruise recovery in 2023, when traffic through the country’s ports exceeded 12 million passengers and surpassed the pre-pandemic benchmark established in 2019. Spanish port infrastructure investment has included new terminals, upgraded berths and improved passenger facilities.

The Balearic Islands received more than 2.4 million cruise passengers during the first ten months of 2025. Business press coverage also reported that passenger volumes at Vigo and A Coruña rose by around a quarter in 2024 compared with 2023.

CLIA Europe data placed the UK and Ireland source market at about 2.54 million cruise guests in 2025, an increase of 5.7 percent from 2024. Spain generated about 635,000 passengers, up just over 4 percent, while France generated around 584,000 guests, an increase close to 2 percent.

Authorities at several Spanish ports have adopted or are considering daily ship-call caps, tighter emissions rules for vessels at berth and incentives for shore-power connections.
