Silver Endeavour pairs small-ship capacity with expedition staffing in Svalbard
The 220-guest, all-suite vessel is one of four ships in Silversea Cruises’ expedition fleet.

A recent voyage aboard Silver Endeavour to Svalbard in the Norwegian High Arctic highlighted Silversea Cruises’ approach to luxury expedition sailings. The ship accommodates 220 guests, compared with capacities of up to 728 aboard the line’s classic vessels. The reported sailing carried 166 passengers.
Silver Endeavour offers only suites, with butler service provided across every accommodation category. Fares are all-inclusive, and the vessel operates with a crew-to-guest ratio of nearly one-to-one.
Expedition programming on the Svalbard voyage was delivered by a 22-member team. Led by an expedition leader, the group included kayak guides, a geologist, an ornithologist, several naturalists, five polar bear monitors and administrative personnel.
Silversea entered the cruise market in 1994 with Silver Cloud and launched Silversea Expeditions in 2008. The company describes the operation as the world’s first ultraluxury expedition cruise brand. Its four expedition vessels are Silver Cloud, Silver Wind, Silver Endeavour and Silver Origin, which was purpose-built for Ecuador’s Galapagos Islands.
