Shipyard selected for Margaritaville at Sea Beachcomber conversion
The former Costa Fortuna is expected to undergo an extensive refit in late 2026 before entering service from PortMiami in early 2027.
Margaritaville at Sea has selected a shipyard for the conversion of the former Costa Fortuna into Margaritaville at Sea Beachcomber, according to industry reports. The shipyard has not been identified. Cruise trade coverage places the planned drydock and refurbishment in late 2026, ahead of the vessel’s expected debut from PortMiami in early 2027.
Trade reports name design and outfitting companies MJM Marine and Mivan as key conversion partners. Their work is expected to transform existing cabins and public areas into Margaritaville-themed spaces. Reported plans include new bars and lounges, refreshed pool decks, updated staterooms and suites, and redesigned casino and entertainment offerings.
Publicly available figures list the future Beachcomber at approximately 102,669 gross tons, with capacity for about 3,470 passengers. Its addition forms part of the cruise line’s broader three-year expansion, which has included upgrades to Margaritaville at Sea Paradise and the introduction of Margaritaville at Sea Islander.
Islander began revenue sailings from Tampa in June 2024. Public materials describe the ship as operating four- and five-night itineraries from Port Tampa Bay, visiting Key West and the Mexican ports of Cozumel and Progreso.
