Security zone imposed for Crown Iris call in Kefalonia
Greek port authorities restricted marine and vehicle traffic around Argostoli during the Mano Maritime ship’s scheduled visit on 14 October.

Greek port authorities established a 500-metre maritime security zone around Crown Iris for the cruise ship’s scheduled call at Argostoli, Kefalonia, on 14 October. The restrictions were in force from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. and prohibited motorised and non-motorised vessels from approaching within 500 metres of the ship’s berth.
Ferries operating the regular Argostoli–Lixouri route were exempt from the maritime measures. Vehicle access was also restricted along part of the port waterfront from 11 p.m. on 13 October through 8 p.m. the following day.
Authorities said the orders were intended to support safety, security and public order during the visit. They did not identify a particular threat or incident connected with the call. Crown Iris is operated by Mano Maritime and has previously encountered pro-Palestinian demonstrations at Greek ports. A report said the ship departed Syros early in July 2025 without allowing passengers to disembark after demonstrators blocked the port.
