Search underway after Carnival Panorama guest goes overboard
U.S. and Mexican authorities coordinated search efforts as the ship continued toward Long Beach.

Carnival Cruise Line said a male guest aboard Carnival Panorama went overboard while the ship was sailing from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, to Long Beach, California.
According to the cruise line, crew members began search and investigation procedures after the guest was reported missing. Those steps included reviewing surveillance footage and alerting authorities in the United States and Mexico.
The U.S. Coast Guard said Rescue Coordination Center Alameda was notified Saturday afternoon and began coordinating the search-and-rescue response. Officials said fixed-wing aircraft, the Mexican Navy and commercial vessels in the area were assisting.
According to a report, Carnival Panorama turned around at about 2 p.m. to search nearby waters before resuming its voyage to Long Beach at approximately 4:30 p.m.
Carnival said it was providing support to members of the guest’s family who were traveling with him. The Coast Guard said the search remained underway. The man had not been publicly identified at the time of the report, and no further details were immediately available.
