Search continues after Carnival Panorama passenger goes overboard
U.S. and Mexican authorities searched for Thomas Gigler after he reportedly went overboard during a voyage from Puerto Vallarta to Long Beach.

Thomas Gigler, 56, reportedly went overboard from Carnival Panorama on Saturday while traveling with his wife and three sons, ages 13, 11 and nine. No body had been recovered at the time of the report, and he was believed to have died.
Carnival said a man jumped while the ship was sailing from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, to Long Beach. According to the company, the crew began search and investigation procedures after being notified that a guest was missing.
The cruise line said those measures included reviewing surveillance footage and alerting the U.S. and Mexican Coast Guards. Search efforts reportedly included U.S. Coast Guard aerial operations, along with assistance from the Mexican Navy and nearby commercial vessels.
Gigler’s sister, Wendy Dowden, said the family believed he may have experienced a psychological episode and was not in his right mind. Carnival Panorama arrived in Long Beach on Sunday.
