Scarlet Lady Breaks Away From Berth in Rhodes
Strong waves reportedly snapped mooring lines before the Virgin Voyages ship moved across the harbor and was returned to its berth.

Virgin Voyages’ Scarlet Lady broke away from its berth at the port of Rhodes, Greece, shortly after 8:15 p.m. local time on Wednesday evening, according to reports. Strong waves reportedly caused several mooring lines securing the ship to snap as it moved away from the pier. The vessel’s gangway then fell into the water.
Local media reported that Scarlet Lady moved across the harbor and made contact with a catamaran and two other boats. A subsequent report identified the tourist vessel King of Rhodes as one of the boats involved in the contact.
The Rhodes Central Port Authority responded to the incident, and available tugboats were placed on standby. According to local reports, Scarlet Lady’s captain maneuvered the cruise ship under its own power and returned it to its berth. No injuries or marine pollution were reported following the incident.
