Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Links Kingstown Expansion With Bequia Cruise Strategy

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is pursuing a cruise strategy that combines capacity upgrades at the Kingstown Cruise Terminal with promotion of Port Elizabeth on Bequia as a boutique destination for smaller and luxury vessels.
Publicly available port-authority information describes Kingstown’s dedicated cruise jetty as having two berths. The north berth can accommodate ships of about 100,000 gross tons and up to 260 meters long, while the south berth is designed for vessels of up to approximately 45,000 gross tons.
According to local media coverage referenced in the available material, the government and Global Ports Holding signed a memorandum of understanding in June 2026 covering a proposed 30-year concession. The arrangement involves up to EC$250 million in phased spending to modernize and operate the terminal. The reported framework includes improvements to existing berths alongside broader upgrades to passenger facilities and the guest experience.
Port Elizabeth is Bequia’s principal harbor and is linked to Kingstown by a ferry journey of about nine miles, typically taking around an hour. Detailed designs for cruise-specific projects at Port Elizabeth had not been publicly finalized, according to the report.
