Ruby Princess cancels Kauai call after Hurricane Lowell
The ship reached Honolulu early for an overnight stay as Kauai continues to recover from storm impacts.

Princess Cruises cancelled Ruby Princess’s scheduled September 22 call at Nawiliwili because of continuing impacts from Hurricane Lowell. The visit had been part of the ship’s current 16-night Hawaii and Mexico roundtrip cruise from San Francisco.
Ruby Princess arrived in Honolulu early on September 22 for an overnight stay and was scheduled to depart September 23, giving passengers more time on Oahu. Princess said shore excursions booked through the cruise line for Kauai would be refunded automatically to the original payment method. The company was also preparing additional excursion options for the extended Honolulu call.
The ship’s remaining itinerary includes Kailua-Kona, Kahului and Ensenada.
Norwegian Cruise Line also removed Kauai from Pride of America’s September 12 inter-island Hawaii sailing, substituting an overnight stay in Hilo while retaining calls at Kahului and Kailua-Kona.
Lihue Airport has reopened, but Hawaii tourism officials advised travelers with near-term Kauai plans to postpone their visits or choose another Hawaiian island while local infrastructure recovers. State-managed parks on Kauai remained closed until further notice, including areas around Waimea Canyon, Koke’e and the Na Pali Coast.
