Royal Princess adjusts itinerary after engine-related issue
Princess Cruises said the technical problem limited the ship’s speed but did not affect the safety of guests or crew.

Royal Princess will skip calls at Juneau and Ketchikan because of an engine-related technical issue that has restricted the ship’s speed, according to a letter Princess Cruises sent to guests.
The cruise line said its technical teams were working to resolve the problem. The revised itinerary adds a sea day before Royal Princess makes Skagway its first port of call on Tuesday, September 15. Instead of visiting Ketchikan on Thursday, September 17, the ship will sail to Victoria, Canada.
Princess Cruises told guests it would provide a refund equivalent to 50% of their cruise fare as a goodwill measure. The refund will be returned to the original payment method within 10 to 15 business days, the company said.
Guests who had booked shore excursions in Juneau or Ketchikan will also receive credits to their onboard accounts, according to the report.
Royal Princess is separately scheduled to enter dry dock in Singapore from October 16 through November 1, 2026.
