Royal Caribbean targets 2027 for app-based room-service ordering
The cruise line is developing a digital alternative to ordering by cabin phone as guest use of its app continues to grow.

Royal Caribbean is working to add room-service ordering to its mobile app, according to Linken D’Souza, the company’s senior vice president of food and beverage. More information is expected in early 2027, with rollout targeted for later that year.
Guests currently must use their cabin phone to place room-service orders aboard Royal Caribbean ships. The service is available around the clock and carries a $7.95 fee plus an 18% gratuity, while a continental breakfast option remains complimentary.
Celebrity Cruises, a sister brand within Royal Caribbean Group, has already introduced in-app room-service ordering on select ships.
Royal Caribbean Group CEO Jason Liberty said during the company’s second-quarter 2026 earnings call on July 28 that more than 90% of guests use the app. He also said monthly active users have increased fivefold since 2019 and that guests purchase more than half of onboard revenue before embarkation.
