Royal Caribbean pilots app-based room service on Star of the Seas
Guests on the ship’s current seven-night sailing can test ordering from the room-service menu through the Royal Caribbean App.

Royal Caribbean is testing app-based room-service ordering aboard Star of the Seas, according to a passenger report. All guests on the current seven-night voyage can participate, but the pilot is limited to this sailing.
In a message to Pinnacle Club members, Royal Caribbean said Star of the Seas is the first ship in its fleet to introduce room-service requests through the company’s app and sought feedback on the feature. For now, passengers can order only from the regular room-service menu in the app. Suite guests who want food from the Main Dining Room while it is open must continue to place those orders by phone.
Room-service orders are subject to a $7.95 service charge plus an 18% gratuity. The fee applies per order rather than per item, and suite guests are exempt.
Linken D’Souza, Royal Caribbean International’s senior vice president of food and beverage, previously said the company was working to reconsider how guests order room service through the app and indicated that further information would come by the following year. Sister brand Celebrity Cruises already offers app-based room-service ordering on Celebrity Beyond and Celebrity Ascent.
