Royal Caribbean names next chief dog officer Dolly
The golden retriever is scheduled to join Hero of the Seas when the ship begins sailing from PortMiami in summer 2027.

Royal Caribbean has announced that its next onboard golden retriever and chief dog officer will be named Dolly, in recognition of Dolly Parton. The dog is set to serve aboard Hero of the Seas, the cruise line’s fourth Icon-class ship, following its planned summer 2027 debut from PortMiami.
Royal Caribbean CEO Michael Bayley had asked social media users to suggest a name for the new canine crew member. According to the cruise line, Dolly was added to the available choices after receiving overwhelming demand.
The company introduced the chief dog officer title aboard Icon of the Seas in 2024, where Rover now serves. Sailor holds the role on Star of the Seas, while Skipper serves aboard Legend of the Seas.
Royal Caribbean says the dogs live aboard their assigned ships full-time. Their activities include taking daily walks, meeting passengers and serving as friendly onboard ambassadors.
