Royal Caribbean has selected retired U.S. Air Force Gen. Lori J. Robinson as godmother of Legend of the Seas. Robinson will join company leaders, crew members and guests for the ship’s naming ceremony in Fort Lauderdale on Nov. 11.
Legend of the Seas is scheduled to arrive in the Florida homeport in November following its debut summer season in Europe. Royal Caribbean said the Veterans Day event will recognize Robinson’s leadership as well as veterans, active-duty personnel and military families.
According to the cruise line, the ship will feature 28 dining venues and seven pools. Attractions and entertainment will include Crown’s Edge, a combined skywalk and zip line 154 feet above the ocean, America’s Got Talent LIVE and a production of Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
From Fort Lauderdale, Legend of the Seas will operate six-night Western Caribbean and eight-night Southern Caribbean itineraries. Scheduled destinations include Oranjestad, Aruba; Willemstad, Curaçao; and Royal Caribbean’s Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas. The company said every sailing from the homeport will visit CocoCay.
