Royal Caribbean Group lists chief meteorologist position
The September 1st posting seeks extensive forecasting experience for a role managing weather support services across the company’s fleet.

Royal Caribbean Group recently posted a chief meteorologist job listing on its website. The listing, added September 1st, calls for a candidate with 15 years of forecasting experience.
The company says the position is responsible for managing fleet weather support services. The chief meteorologist provides weather guidance and expertise to the company and ship captains. The role does not have unilateral authority to alter cruise itineraries.
James Van Fleet began working as chief meteorologist in January 2017 and held the position until 2023. Royal Caribbean Group then hired Craig Setzer for the role. According to Setzer’s LinkedIn profile, he had not worked for Royal Caribbean Group since June 2026. The newly posted listing follows those two tenures.
