Royal Caribbean Extends Labadee Suspension Through June 2027

The cruise line says it will not return to its private destination in Haiti until it is confident conditions are safe.

Royal Caribbean has suspended calls at Labadee through June 2027, extending a pause that began when the cruise line started skipping the Haitian destination in April 2025. Based on the company’s latest schedule update, ships are not expected to return before at least July 2027.

Royal Caribbean President and CEO Michael Bayley said the company was waiting for conditions to improve and could not resume visits until it was satisfied the destination was safe. As of October 2026, the cruise line remained uncertain about when calls could safely restart.

Bayley also said Royal Caribbean has continued paying Labadee employees at a reduced rate during the suspension. He cited the company’s previous involvement in the local community, including construction of a school and installation of a water system.

The U.S. Department of State lists Haiti under its highest travel advisory, Level 4, advising people not to travel there. The department cites risks that include crime, kidnapping, terrorism, civil unrest and limited access to health care.
