Royal Caribbean changes West Coast plans for two ships
Navigator of the Seas will remain in Asia longer, while Ovation of the Seas will relocate to Brisbane in November 2027.
Around 40 West Coast sailings are affected by Royal Caribbean’s deployment changes, according to the report, representing potential capacity for more than 150,000 passengers. Navigator of the Seas and Ovation of the Seas had been scheduled to operate more cruises from Los Angeles during 2027 and early 2028.
Navigator’s planned transpacific voyage from Japan to California has been cancelled. Rather than returning to North America in spring 2027, the ship will remain based in Singapore through October 2027. It is expected to operate predominantly two- to five-night cruises visiting Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. Ovation will move to Brisbane, Australia, from November 2027.
Royal Caribbean is contacting passengers booked on affected sailings with refund and rebooking options. Guests may transfer to selected Voyager of the Seas or Serenade of the Seas voyages, with non-refundable deposit change fees waived and comparable cabins offered at prevailing fares. Passengers remain responsible for differences in cruise fares, taxes, fees and gratuities.
The company is also offering reimbursement of up to $400 per person for qualifying change fees tied to non-refundable, pre-purchased transportation, which may include flights, railway tickets or rental cars.
