Royal Caribbean cancels Serenade of the Seas Alaska sailing
The Vancouver departure was first reduced from seven nights to five before ongoing maintenance prevented the cruise from operating.

Royal Caribbean canceled an Alaska cruise aboard Serenade of the Seas after maintenance work continued beyond the expected timeline. Published itinerary information showed the seven-night voyage had originally been scheduled to leave Vancouver on Aug. 30.
About a week before departure, guests were informed that the itinerary would be shortened to five nights because the work was taking longer than anticipated. Passengers later boarded the vessel in Vancouver while maintenance continued, but the ship remained in port after its planned departure time.
A Royal Caribbean spokesperson attributed the cancellation to the need to accommodate ongoing maintenance and said the company worked with affected travelers to revise their plans. Impacted guests were reportedly offered full refunds, future cruise credits worth 100% of their fares and reimbursement for airline change fees.
Published ship-tracking information indicated that Serenade of the Seas subsequently departed Vancouver on Sept. 6 for another Alaska cruise.
