Royal Caribbean Cancels Serenade of the Seas Alaska Sailing
The cruise line cited a mechanical issue and ongoing maintenance after guests had boarded in Vancouver.

Royal Caribbean canceled an Alaska voyage aboard Serenade of the Seas after passengers had embarked in Vancouver, Canada. The company said the sailing was called off because of a mechanical issue and the need to continue maintenance.
The cancellation was announced about two days after embarkation. Before departure, Royal Caribbean had notified guests that the planned weeklong cruise would be shortened by roughly half and that parts of the itinerary would be removed.
Following the cancellation announcement, passengers were instructed to leave the ship by midnight the next day.
Royal Caribbean offered affected guests a full refund and a future cruise credit valued at 100% of the fare they paid. The company also offered reimbursement for fees associated with changing flights.
