Royal Caribbean cancels Serenade of the Seas Alaska cruise
Technical repairs in Vancouver could not be completed in time for the vessel to begin the voyage safely.

Royal Caribbean International cancelled Serenade of the Seas’ planned roundtrip Alaska sailing from Vancouver after technical repairs took longer than expected. The company said the work could not be finished in time for the ship to safely start the voyage.
The cruise had originally been scheduled as a weeklong itinerary. Royal Caribbean initially delayed its departure because maintenance in Vancouver required additional time. The company later expected to operate a shortened voyage calling at Ketchikan and Prince Rupert, but that plan was also abandoned. Passengers were subsequently instructed to disembark.
Royal Caribbean is providing affected passengers with a full cruise-fare refund and a future cruise credit equal to the entire original fare paid. The credit is valid for a year from its issue date and can be used for another Royal Caribbean sailing.
The company is also reimbursing flight-change fees related to the cancellation, up to two hundred US dollars per person for domestic flights and four hundred US dollars per person for international flights.
