Royal Caribbean Cancels Serenade of the Seas Alaska Cruise
The ship later resumed service after maintenance was completed, while affected guests were offered refunds and future cruise credits.

Royal Caribbean canceled a seven-night Serenade of the Seas sailing because of ongoing maintenance, a company spokesperson said. The cruise had originally been scheduled to leave Vancouver on August 30, but its departure was postponed until September 1. Cited reports said the voyage was ultimately canceled a few days after passengers boarded.
The planned itinerary included calls at Sitka, Juneau, Ketchikan and Prince Rupert before the ship’s return to Vancouver.
Royal Caribbean apologized for the disruption and said it worked with affected guests to revise their travel arrangements. According to a cruise industry report, booked passengers were set to receive full refunds while retaining onboard credits. They were also offered future cruise credits equal to their cruise fares and reimbursement for eligible fees related to changing flights.
The cruise line later said the required repairs had been completed and Serenade of the Seas was prepared for its next scheduled departure. A subsequent industry report said the vessel resumed service on September 6 with a seven-day round-trip Alaska cruise.
