Royal Caribbean asks guests to help name Hero of the Seas dog
Seven names are in the final round for the future Icon Class ship’s resident Chief Dog Officer.
Royal Caribbean International President and CEO Michael Bayley has invited guests on social media to help select a name for the dog that will live aboard Hero of the Seas.
The seven finalists are Hero, Scout, Marina, Pearl, Coco, Coral and Sandy. Bayley said the list was narrowed based on social media engagement and described the vote as the final round before he makes the ultimate selection. He referred to the dog as the ship’s new Chief Dog Officer.
According to the report, Royal Caribbean currently has three other dogs living aboard its ships in that role: Rover on Icon of the Seas, Sailor on Star of the Seas and Skipper on Legend of the Seas.
Hero of the Seas is scheduled to begin sailing on Aug. 11, 2027. Its planned inaugural cruise will depart from Miami, Florida, and visit Perfect Day at CocoCay.
