Royal Caribbean and MSC joint venture breaks ground on Naha cruise terminal
The Okinawa facility is scheduled to begin operations in March 2028, expanding capacity for passengers and larger ships.

Royal Caribbean Group, MSC Cruises, the Naha Port Authority and Cruise Port Naha G.K. have celebrated the groundbreaking of a new cruise terminal at Naha Port in Okinawa, Japan.
Under a cruise hub formation agreement concluded with the port authority in August 2026, Cruise Port Naha G.K. will develop and operate the terminal. Operations are scheduled to begin in March 2028.
Cruise Port Naha G.K. is a joint venture between CTC Maritime and RCL Cruises Ltd. The companies represent the interests of MSC Cruises and Royal Caribbean Group, respectively.
The planned terminal will expand passenger facilities and enable Naha Port to handle more cruise passengers as well as larger vessels. The project follows the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism’s 2019 designation of Naha Port as an International Cruise Ship Hub Formation Port.
