Rising Ganges stalls Rajmahal Ganga cruise in Bhagalpur
Foreign passengers continued to Patna by train as the Kolkata-to-Varanasi vessel waited for water conditions to improve.

The Rajmahal Ganga cruise was stalled in Bhagalpur by rising water levels while traveling from Kolkata to Varanasi. The vessel had remained docked in the Ganges there since September 6, awaiting conditions that would allow it to continue.
The cruise reportedly reached Bhagalpur on September 5 after passing the Vikramshila Bridge and was scheduled to proceed toward the Simaria Bridge in Begusarai. Sources said 11 tourists were aboard, including nine foreign nationals from Britain, New Zealand and the Netherlands.
The foreign tourists disembarked and were sent to Patna by train. Ranjit Kumar, a member of the cruise management team, said a decision on continuing the voyage would be made after the river level receded. He added that the cruise could resume within two or three days if conditions became favorable.
