Refurbished MSC Poesia begins weekly Alaska cruises from Seattle
The 2,550-passenger ship is operating round-trip summer voyages with Alaska-focused food, enrichment and wildlife programming.
MSC Cruises deployed the refurbished MSC Poesia from Seattle for its first summer of weekly round-trip Alaska sailings. The ship accommodates 2,550 passengers at double occupancy.
On the voyage reviewed, MSC Poesia called at Ketchikan, Icy Strait Point and Juneau, while its glacier-viewing schedule included several hours at Dawes Glacier. Alaska-related offerings aboard included beers from Alaskan Brewing Company at the bars. The buffet served American staples such as hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken fingers, along with complimentary soft-serve ice cream.
Entertainment included a Dirty Dancing-themed stage revue and a screening of the film accompanied by singers and dancers. Naturalist Daryth Morissey remained aboard throughout the voyage, presenting lectures and sharing reports of whale, orca and porpoise sightings while the ship was at sea.
The report also said MSC developed a pilot program with ORCA, an organization focused on preventing and reducing whale strikes.
Following the Alaska season, MSC Poesia was scheduled to return to Miami for winter Caribbean itineraries. The ship is due to resume Alaska cruises in late April 2027, using the same itinerary featured on the reported sailing.
