Queen Elizabeth resumes Panama Canal transit after brief pause
Cunard said the ship was undamaged and its itinerary was unaffected following an earthquake in Panama.

Queen Elizabeth was briefly halted while transiting the Panama Canal during a one-way voyage from Seattle to Miami after an earthquake struck.
A Cunard spokesperson said the ship was not damaged by the tremors. The spokesperson attributed the pause to delayed cargo traffic ahead of the vessel, adding that Queen Elizabeth had been instructed to remain in position until the traffic cleared.
The earthquake, reported at magnitude 7.7, struck shortly before mid-afternoon local time on Friday. Its epicenter was about 6.2 miles from Pitaloza Arriba in south-central Panama.
The US Geological Survey reported that approximately 4.6 million people experienced moderate to severe shaking. Cunard said Queen Elizabeth’s itinerary was unaffected, and the ship resumed its journey after the brief canal delay.
