Quark Expeditions and APT plan new small ship for 2029

The 99-suite vessel is set to divide its operations between Travelmarvel Mediterranean sailings and Quark Antarctic expeditions.

Quark Expeditions and APT Travel Group are partnering on a purpose-built small ship scheduled to enter service in 2029. The vessel remains under development and has not yet been named.

Plans call for the ship to operate Mediterranean voyages for APT’s Travelmarvel brand. Quark is expected to use it in Antarctica under a 10-year charter beginning with the 2029-30 season. An APT Travel Group spokesperson said the vessel will be marketed in the United States and Canada.

The ship is planned with 99 suites, a PC6 ice-class hull and expedition-focused features that include spacious mudrooms. Quark will provide operational and polar expertise during development to help prepare the vessel for Antarctic expedition service.

APT described the project as one of Travelmarvel’s most significant investments. It will also be the brand’s first ocean vessel designed and built specifically for Travelmarvel. The companies plan to release the ship’s name, full specifications and inaugural Mediterranean and Antarctic itineraries closer to its launch.
