PortMiami Tunnel closing overnight through September 17

The PortMiami Tunnel is being closed from 21:00 until 05:00 each night through Thursday, September 17, while PortMiami remains open.

Drivers can continue to use the MacArthur Causeway and connecting surface streets whenever the tunnel is unavailable. The tunnel is expected to reopen normally each morning after the scheduled maintenance window has ended.

Port authorities arranged the overnight work outside the busiest daytime periods for cruise and cargo activity. Even so, they indicated that passengers with late arrivals, overnight transfers or very early departures could face longer journeys while the tunnel closures continue.

PortMiami handled 8,564,225 cruise passengers during its latest fiscal year. That passenger total reinforced its position as the world’s largest cruise port by passenger volume. Although the tunnel will be unavailable during the specified overnight hours, the port itself remains open throughout the closure schedule. Normal tunnel access is expected to resume each morning following the end of the overnight work period.
